Daughter of Levite Lavoie and Rose Dionne. Good to see pictures of where I went to school and church. Have not been in the area since 1995 but it brings back good memories from your website.

I was just looking at the pictures of the church being built. It's my understanding that my grandfather Willie helped build the church too. I loved seeing the inside pictures. You can only see the outside on google maps! I told my aunt and uncle about this page some time ago and they liked seeing the old pictures of the school, which they had attended. I'll tell them you have pictures of the church. They'd love to see them! Thank for maintaining this site.

My 3rd Great Grandfather Joseph St.Jean and his family lived in Grand Isle, Maine in 1880. I don't have any photos of him and know nothing about him or the town where he lived. I've never been to the area and have been fascinated by your website. Thank you so much for your efforts in opening a window into the past.

My mother's family was from Grand Isle. Her father's name was Willie Levasseur, born in Lille, Me and was a carpenter who moved to Lynn, Massachusetts. Her mother's maiden name was Soucy and she was from Grand Isle. I saw a book from Grand Isle that had a picture of my mother's family in it taken in Lynn.

I enjoyed your archived pictures. Hope you will continue archiving. Good Job. Do you have any information on the Lizotte family reunion. I believe it was held in 1986 or 1987. i wa planning to attend but my Dad was very ill and subsequently pass away. He was born in St. David but lived in Grand Isle for a time. Thanks Linda

The archived photos are fascinating. Do you have any hunting photos from camps that were in operation back in the early 1900's ? Were there many deer in the area back then. It would be interesting to know because they have all but disappeared today!

I thoroughly enjoyed browsing your new website. My mother, Christine Doucette, was born in Grand Isle and was the daughter of Leonard & Annie Doucette. I visited Grand Isle when I was a youngster & then again for my Grandfather's funeral when I was a teenager. I remember visiting some sort of a general store & remember what a beautiful little town Grand Isle was. My sister should be in Grand Isle this week visiting from Georgia & she planned on visiting the Historical Society along with her husband & daughter and I'm looking forward to hearing all about her visit to Grand Isle. I also look forward to visiting your website again & maybe I'll get to see some photos of some of my distant relatives. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, N. Wynne Suwanee, GA
